Become a Tree Captain

Don't have space for a tree of your own? Are you passionate about getting more trees to Watsonville Residents? Need community service hours?

We are looking for volunteers to become Tree Captains and join either the Tree Crew or Tree Amigos. 

Tree Crew : Help us plant trees! 

Starting in January we will be ordering trees for people who have inquired about our Shade Watsonville Program. Not everyone is able to plant a tree themselves and we want to start getting a list of volunteers who would be willing to sing up to help other people plant trees. We are also planning to work with the Pajaro Village HOA to get more trees in that neighborhood. Seniors are one of the populations who are most vulnerable to heat waves and some might have trouble planting their own tree. That's where the tree crew comes in. You would be required to attend a training on how to properly plant a tree before you are assigned to help out residents. 

Tree Amigo: Help us get the word out! 

Even with social media posts and newsletters we are not able to reach everyone in Watsonville. That is why we need your help. Tree amigos are required to attend a training session where they learn about the benefits of trees and more information about our tree program to share with the public. You then can help us flyer certian neighborhoods, answer questions that residents might have, or even organize a tree planting day in your own neighborhood.
